CNC Machining

Columbia Machine Works operates one of the largest CNC machine shops in the southeastern United States, equipped for large-capacity CNC turning, CNC milling, and precision boring.

Machining equipment includes:

• 5 horizontal boring mills (3 CNC)
• 2 vertical turning lathes (1 CNC, with live tooling for turning and milling)
• 8 turning lathes (5 CNC)
• 5 CNC vertical milling centers

Capacity specifications:

• CNC milling: up to 138" X-axis travel x 118" Y-axis travel, 22-ton table capacity
• CNC turning: up to 38" swing x 240" between centers
• Conventional turning: up to 55" swing x 240" between centers
• CNC vertical turning: up to 94.5" maximum swing, 78.75" table

Every component is quality-checked throughout the project — from incoming material to final inspection before shipment. When required, parts are verified using a Faro portable CMM (coordinate measuring machine) for precision quality control. A mechanical engineer is on staff to support projects that require additional engineering input.
